Lanell Tarbet passed away in San Jose, California on November 13th, with her cousin Jannet Howard and close friend Karen Mosby at her side, she had been medavaced to the hospital in San Jose the day before after lapsing into a diabetic coma, at her home in Dos Palos. She had fought a long and courageous battle with diabetes and a number of other health problems.
Lanell was born on November 2, 1952 in Wichita Falls, Texas, the second of three childeren born to Leroy and Juanita Tarbet. She learned the work ethics that she continued to practice thoughout her life at a very early age. After her baby sister, Elizabeth, was born with severe mental and physical disabilities it was Lanell's responsibility to care for her. After the death of Elizabeth, Lanell and the family relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada.
In 1970, after the death of uncle Carl, she came to Dos Palos to help her aunt for what was supposed to be a short time. She was so taken with the warmth and hospitality of the community that she enrolled at Dos Palos High and made Dos Palos her home.
Lanell never met a stanger and over the next few years she established numerous friendships that would last a lifetime and in 1979 she met the love of her life, Mitchell Climer and they entered into the loving relationship that would last thirty three years and only to be ended by her leaving this life.
Lanell devoted most of her life to serving others, she never said no when asked to help a friend, family member, neighbor or even a stranger. She was noted as a very hard and efficiant worker, over the last thirty five years she was almost never without a job and as a rule was holding down two or more positions at a time. At the time of her passing she was employed at Dos Palos High School. While holding down a full time job she still found time to provide in home care for the elderly and disabled. She will be greatly missed, not only by her family and friends but by the community as a whole.
She enjoyed spending time with Mitch and her dog Georgie at home. Taking trips with Mitch and her girlfriends and most of all she loved food and was happiest when Mitch would take her out to dinner or she and one of her girlfriends would have breakfast or lunch at a local resturant.
She was preceed in death by her parents and siblings Elizabeth and Danny and is survived by her companion of thirty three years Michell, his childeren Thomas and Allison and their families, cousin Jannet Howard and her son Dylan Ballard, cousin Joe Lyons wife Carrie and daughters Elizabeth and Jennie La Bell and there families, sisterin law Elouise Tarbet, nieces Danese (Tarbet) Griffth, Amanda Tarbet and nephew Wade tarbet of Kilgore, Texas.
A celebration of Lanell Life was held on November 24th @ 12:00pm at the Dale Hale Hall, Located at 931 Center Ave. in Dos Palos, everyone is invited to attend.
