James

U.S. Veteran

On November 2, 2012, James Lamar “Jimmy” Bell, passed from this world. He left behind his baby sister Jeannette “Mitzie” Baze, a daughter Brittaney Anne, and his wife, Gina DeRose Bell. He also leaves seven nieces and nephews, all their children, three stepchildren and six grandchildren. In addition, he has left many friends both in Siskiyou County and in Corpus Christi, TX, where he spent much of his adult life. Jimmy was a veteran, an oil field worker, a deep sea diver and a rancher.

He was born to James Dean Bell and Dorothy Jean Doty on November 28, 1960 in Indiana. He soon became the big brother to Jeff and Mitzie. His family spent most of his childhood in Siskiyou County, where his father found work. Jimmy finished high school in Yreka and enlisted in the Army. He moved to Corpus Christi, TX after serving in the Army and the rest of his family followed him there. During the years he worked in the oil fields, he traveled the world. Upon retiring, he returned to Siskiyou County in 2010. After seeing the world, he liked Siskiyou County best. Jimmy was loyal, especially to family members, a soft-hearted man and a hard worker. His family gave him great joy, and grandchildren were a special treat. No one was a prouder grandpa than Jimmy. He enjoyed being outdoors every day. He was especially proud of his home and lawn and was learning to garden.

He will be missed by many and will light the way ahead for those of us who follow. His family will announce a celebration of his life at a later date. Donations to Madrone Hospice, 255 Collier Circle, Yreka, CA 96097 or to a charity of one’s choice would be appreciated.
