Audrey Lou Berger, 74, of DeKalb, Illinois, died Friday, November 2, 2012, at Shabbona Health Care Center.
Born November 15, 1937, in Esmond, the daughter of Earl W. and Hazel M. (Peters) Ray, Audrey worked many years for Con-Tel, from which she retired. She was a member of Waterman Area Heritage Society, the Bill Hinkston Telephone Pioneer Club, First United Methodist Church in DeKalb and United Methodist Women.
She is survived by her stepchildren, Peggy Berger-Liles of North Carolina and Christine Berger-Smith of Texas; brother, Wesley (Mary) Ray of Upland, California; sisters, Darlene Hime of Iowa, Betty Foose of Lakeland, Florida, Barbara Schubert of California, and Beverly Ray of Lakeland, Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Phyllis (Bob) Roberts of Waterman and Sandy Oesterreich of DeKalb.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 7, at First United Methodist Church, 321 Oak Street, DeKalb, with the Rev. Brian Gilbert officiating. Burial will follow at Livingston Cemetery, Caledonia. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 6, at Anderson Funeral Home, DeKalb.
