WOODSTOCK—Mary Katherine Kelley, 91, of Woodstock, died Saturday, October 27, 2012 at the Crossroads Care Center in Woodstock. She was born in Wedowee, Alabama on March 23, 1921 to Robert E. and Carrie Lee, having five siblings. She attended more than a year at a college in Alabama, and married Andrew Franklin Kelley in April 12, 1941. The couple lived mostly in the South, from Alabama to Texas, for many years, eventually moving to Quebec, Canada, and to Venezuela. Upon retirement in Mississipi, they came to Illinois to be near their daughter and her family. She was the last of her siblings to pass away; a brother, Hubert, died in World War II. She enjoyed flower gardening, cooking, and being with her many good friends and neighbors. Her interests included types of sewing and art, dancing, playing cards with friends, and especially reading. Her children remember her reading to them when young. She was kind, thoughtful, and always supportive of her family and friends. She is survived by her son, Andrew F. Kelley, Jr. of Woodstock, and her grandson, Timothy Capone, of California. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2002, and by her daughter Mary Linda Capone, also of Woodstock, who passed away this July. Friends may wish to join at her resting place, Windridge Memorial Park in Cary, Illinois at Saturday at 1 pm. Arrangements by Skaja Bachmann Funeral Home, 7715 W. Route 14, Crystal Lake.
