Frances Scofield Courtney

Frances Scofield Courtney, age 78 of Paxton, FL died Wednesday October 31, 2012 in a Florala hospital. She was the daughter of Burie and Sue Faye Smith Hart. Frances worked for over 39 years for Altex in Andalusia. She was A member of the Red Oak Baptist Church. Frances was an exceptional cook and was known for her delicious 8 layer red-velvet cake, biscuits, and chicken and dumplings. When she wasn't cooking for her family get togethers, she loved to plant flowers in her yard. One of her favorite past times was quilting for her family and friends. Frances enjoyed taking trips with William to see her children and grandchildren. Her family was the light of her life. Her unmatched love is what made her so special to her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Frances can never be replaced. Frances was preceded in death by husband, Ausley Scofield; father, Burie Hart; mother, Sue Faye Hart; granddaughter, Christie Scofield; sisters, Mary Alice Hudson and Sally Barnes; brothers, Clint, Ralph, Rufus, Harold, and Millard Hart. Frances is survived by her husband of 15 years William Courtney of Paxton, FL sons, Royce and wife Carol Scofield of Lynn Haven, FL, Cecil and wife Becky Scofield of Panama City, FL and David and wife Kim Scofield of Panama City, FL, step daughter, Terry and husband Doug Leisner of Granite City, IL, sister, Gracie Gilliman of Pace FL, brothers, Grady Hart of Odenville, AL and Johnny Hart of Winter Haven, FL. 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Funeral services for Frances Scofield Courtney will be 11AM Saturday November 3, 2012 at the Red Oak Baptist Church with Rev Jackie Davis and Rev Eugene Meadows officiating. Interment will follow at the Paxton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8PM Friday at Evans Funeral Home. Those who wish may sign the online guest registry at evansfuneralhomeal.com
