Evelyn R. Hunt, age 89, of Dahlonega died October 30, 2012. Evelyn was born in Bronx, New York in 1923. She met and married her husband Robert (Bob) in NY and shortly thereafter they moved to Pinellas Park, Florida in 1950. She and Bob raised their family in FL and had a cabin in Helen, GA where they enjoyed many family vacations. In 1993, they decided to move to Dahlonega to live out their retirement years. She was a faithful parishioner and an active volunteer with the Women’s Guild of St Luke’s Catholic Church in Dahlonega, GA. She spent many hours in service work in our community such as: baking cookies, visiting residents at Gold City nursing home to play bingo and as a weekly volunteer in the food pantry for the Community Helping Place for many years. She was a rather quiet, shy person who always gave infectious smiles freely often followed by kisses. She always tried to have a friendly word to say to everyone to brighten up their day. Her kindness and playful quick wit will be missed by all. She loved her family and friends deeply and enjoyed being called “Grandma Ev” by children of all ages. Evelyn was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Robert D. Hunt in 1996. She is survived by her children: Bob & Beth Hunt (Phoenix, AZ), Jeff & Kathy Hunt (Bradenton, FL), and Susan Hunt & Laura LaTourette (Dahlonega, GA): Grandchildren- Brianne Brucker, Christopher & Teresa Hunt, Betsy Hunt, Steven & Chelsea Hunt, Derek & Nasareth Brucker. Great Grandchildren: Bryce Hunt, Maddox Hunt & Adelaide Hunt. Visitation for Evelyn will be at the Dahlonega Funeral Home, on Friday, November 2, 2012 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Memorial services will be held at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, Dahlonega on Saturday November 3, 2012 at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Community Helping Place (CHP); St. Vincent DePaul – St. Luke’s Catholic Church; or the Friends of Lumpkin Co. Shelter Animals P.O. Box 425 Dahlonega, GA 30533
