Elmer E. Leppanen

Elmer E. Leppanen, 77, Staples, formerly of Nashwauk, died Friday, October 26, 2012 in Moose Lake. He was born on June 18, 1935 in Nashwauk, MN to Emil and Mamie Leppanen. Elmer was very proud Navy Veteran of the Korean War. He was a jack of all trades and worked as a welder/machinist during his life. Elmer also loved fishing, traveling, hunting, motorcycles and going to casinos. He was a member of VFW Post 14000 and American Legion Post 653 of Terlingua, TX and also the Carlton VFW.

Emil is preceded in death by his mother: Maime; father: Emil; and brothers: George Leppanen and Gary Leppanen.

He will be lovingly remembered by his four children: Debra Leppanen of Rosemount, Judith (Dave) Damore of Reno, NV; Kaireen (Brian) Leppanen of Sturgeon Lake; Clinton (Sondra) Leppanen of Moose Lake; seven grandchildren: Rhiannon Broadhead; Jake Christopherson, Zach Christopherson; Brennen Sylvester; Nate Leppanen; Parker Leppanen; and Tori Leppanen; sister: Delores Kasper of Brainerd; brother: Jeff Leppanen of Staples; and several nieces and nephews.

A Committal Service with Full Military Honors will be held on Friday, November 2, 2012 at 1:00 PM at the Committal Shelter in Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls, MN.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
