  John Robert Moorhead, Sr., 84, died peacefully on Saturday, October 27, 2012, in Collierville, TN. Visitation will be Thursday, November 1, from 6-8:00 p.m., at Moore Funeral Home in Hattiesburg, MS. A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 2, at 11:30 a.m., at Lakewood Memorial Park, 6000 Clinton Boulevard, Jackson, MS 39209. 

   Mr. Moorhead was a devoted son and loving father. He never met a stranger, which resulted in a successful career in the food brokerage industry in Mississippi. He also served many years as a deacon in the Baptist church. Mr. Moorhead proudly served in the United States Marine Corp as a drill sergeant and served on the front lines in the Korean War. He courageously battled in the Chosin Reservoir and was proud to be one of “the Chosin Few”.

   Mr. Moorhead was preceded in death by his father, John Wesson Moorhead; his mother, Martha Johnson Moorhead; and his sister, Martha Eleanor Moorhead Tankersley. 

   He is survived by a daughter, Gay Moorhead (Robert) Dees, of Houston, TX; a son, Bobby (Laurie) Moorhead, Jr., of Collierville, TN; and six grandchildren, Amy Grace Dees and Carly Melissa Dees of Houston, Texas, John Robert Moorhead, III, Kyle Gray Moorhead, Marlie Laura Moorhead, and Luci Mae Moorhead of Collierville, TN.

   In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a donation in memory of Mr. Moorhead to American Lung Association or American Heart Association.
