Margaret Joan Plagge, of DeKalb, Illinois, died Friday, October 26, 2012, at Oak Crest DeKalb Area Retirement Center.

Born December 4, 1913, in Tulare, California, the daughter of Carleton and Heluiz (Chandler) Washburne, she married Donald Marshall in 1933 and later James Plagge in 1972.

Margaret held a bachelor’s degree in art history from the University of Chicago and a master’s in Education from Michigan State University. She was founder of Okemos (Michigan) Friends of the Library.

She is survived by her children, Faith (Larry) Anderson of Malta and Jonathan (Karen) Marshall of Wyoming, Michigan; grandchildren, Bronwyn (Bob) Simons, Roberta (Ben Ludwig) Anderson, Elizabeth (James) Adducci and Jeff (Kate) Anderson; great-grandchildren, Cassy, Jillian, Coletta, Henry and James; her stepchildren, Susan Plagge and Richard Plagge; brother, Chandler (Bayla) Washburne of Fresno, California; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Meredith; her husbands, Donald and James; sister, Beatrice Visher; and stepdaughter, Louise Plagge.

The private graveside service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Barrington.
