Joseph E. Brody

Brody, Joseph Edward , 87, of Peoria, Arizona, formerly of Chicago, IL, Born on August 27, 1925, passed away on Oct. 24, 2012. Joseph was the beloved son of Thomas and Jennie (McKee) Brody, Irish immigrants from County Claire. Joseph was the beloved husband of almost 46 years to Arline (Pavelin) Brody (deceased). Loving father to Susan (Laurence) Golonka, Sharon (Richard) Alberque, Sally (Daniel) Monnin, and Sheila (Kenneth) Schimanski. Loving and fun grandfather to Mary & Margaret, Leslie (Bryce Williams), Lauren & Leigh, Joseph & Joshua, Thomas & Michael and great-grandfather to Kyle. Beloved brother of Fr. Thomas V. Brody (deceased), Mary McInerney (deceased), Marge Bartelt (deceased), Genevieve Donaldson (deceased), Ellen Engdall (deceased), Anne Mahieu, Florence Cosentino and Therese Cutler. Fond brother-in-law of Lorraine Pavelin Yurkovich. Fond uncle to many nieces and nephews. Joseph attended St. Agnes elementary school, St. Patrick High School and DePaul University. Joe was a member of the 1945 NIT Championship DePaul Basketball Team, Coached by Ray Meyer (deceased). He served in the Army during WWII. Joe was the co-owner of Keane-Brody Cleaners, worked in the savings and loan industry for 30 years (Bell Federal, First Federal and Fannie Mae). Joe's hobbies included golf and wood-working. Joseph was a founding member of St. Kieran Catholic Church in Chicago Heights, IL. Many were profoundly touched by his strong faith in God. Resting at the Tews Funeral Home 18230 Dixie Highway in Homewood on Sunday October 28, from 3-8pm. Funeral Monday with 9:15am prayers at the Tews Funeral Home then to St. Kieran Church Mass 10am. Interment Assumption Cemetery.
