Mrs. Maria (Ciarlo) Albini, 86, of Waterbury, passed away Monday October 22, 2012 at Waterbury Hospital after a brief illness. She was the widow of Amalio Albini, to whom she was very devoted. She and her husband were married for 58 years.
Maria was born in Pontelandolfo, Benevento, Italy on February 8, 1926, daughter of the late Salvatore and Antonietta (Ciarlo) Ciarlo. She came to Waterbury from Pontelandolfo in 1950. She worked at Mattatuck Manufacturing for fourteen years before retiring in 1986. Prior to Mattatuck Mfg. Co., she worked for Waterbury Buckle and Uniroyal Footwear. She loved spending time with her family and socializing with friends and relatives especially her granddaughters whom she adored. She enjoyed trips to the casino, cooking, and tending to her vegetable and flower gardens. She liked sewing and knitting. After their retirement she and Amalio enjoyed traveling to numerous places including Las Vegas, Argentina, Italy and numerous cruises.
She leaves two sons, John Albini of Cheshire and Salvatore Albini of Waterbury, two granddaughters, Christina Albini of Cheshire and Sophia Komaromi of New York City. She was predeceased by a brother Donato Ciarlo.
Arrangements: Funeral Saturday 9:30 a.m. from Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home 430 Chase Parkway to SS. Peter and Paul Church for a Mass at 10:30 a.m.. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
