Funeral service for Danny Ray Lee, age 69, of Oak Hill, who died Saturday, October 20, 2012 will be 12:00 noon, Friday, October 26 at First Baptist Church in Oak Hill. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Calling hours will be 5:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 25 at the church.
Born in Cross City, Florida, Mr. Lee, who came to this area as a child, worked over 30 years in the citrus business before retiring in 2010. He also mowed and kept our highways clean, was a member of First Baptist Church, and the Florida Citrus Growers Association. Mr. Lee enjoyed the simple things in life: laughing, telling jokes, riding through orange groves, and watching car races, but his biggest joy was his family. He passed doing what he loved.
Survivors include 1 son, Daryl (Tracie) Lee; 1 daughter, Denise (Chris) Bosley; 5 grandchildren, Darby and Darcy Lee, Cassie, Christian and Danielle Bosley; 2 great grandchildren, Colin and Makena Dobbins; 5 stepchildren, Mark, Ray, Joel and John Malcolm, and Julie Brown; 1 sister, Bertie (J.B.) Langston; 15 step-grandchildren; 13 step-great grandchildren; his former wife, Roberta Lee; and numerous nieces and nephews to whom he was a father figure. Mr. Lee was preceded in death by his wife of 20 years, Georgia Malcom Lee; and his siblings, Orlando "Pete" Lee, Betty Clark, Bill Lee, Myrtle Russell, and Mary Dodd.
