U.S. Veteran

Paul C. Harrison, age 90, of Revere, MO, passed away Monday, October 22, 2012 at the Clark Co. Nursing Home in Kahoka.

Paul was born September 15, 1922 in Hancock Co., IL, a son of Albert and Lela Hackett Harrison.

He and Barbara Clark were married October 12, 1947 in Kahoka by Rev. Monroe at the Methodist Parsonage.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Barbara Harrison, of the home; two sons, Stephen (Jackie) Harrison of Overland Park, KS and Phil (Vicky) Harrison of Quincy, IL; three daughters, Sharon Harrison of Villa Ridge, MO, Deb Harrison (John Pennock) of Revere, MO, and Cindy Johnson of Ozark, MO; a daughter-in-law, Pam Harrison of Jenks, OK; four grandchildren: Jyl Ourada (Nate) of Lenexa, KS, Kelsey and Kristin Harrison of Quincy, IL, and Tony Harrison of Arnold, MO; four great-grandchildren: Alexis and Addison Ourada and Karly and Remington Harrison; one brother, Ed (Gerrie) Harrison of Carthage, IL; a brother-in-law, Bob Clark of Indialantic, FL; as well as nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Chris Harrison; and two grandchildren in infancy.

Paul was raised in Hancock Co., IL, moving with his family to Revere in his senior year of high school. He graduated with the class of 1940 from Revere High School. He was a U.S. Army Veteran.

Paul farmed all of his life and in later years drove a truck for Ideal Ready Mix. He was a member of the Peaksville Christian Church and former member of the Revere School Board. Paul was an avid supporter of the Clark Co. Fair. He loved attending his children’s school activities and their many basketball and baseball games throughout the school year and summer. He truly enjoyed his daily trips to the various coffee shops and the stories shared there. He looked forward to the twice monthly get togethers at the Revere Community Center. He also looked forward to reaching his 90th birthday and had a wonderful time celebrating this past month. He treasured time spent with his family.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. at the Peaksville Christian Church with Pastor Shawn McAfee. Additional words of comfort were provided by his son, Stephen. Ms. Heather Wilkins was pianist. Special music “Amazing Grace” was provided by Shawn McAfee and “Goin’ Home” and “Peg ‘O My Heart” by Jeri Braxton. Congregational hymn was “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot”.

Honorary Pallbearers were Harold Gares, Gary Gray, Gale Gray, L. D. Christy, Mary Ann White-Littrell, Rick White, Roger Ludwick, Bill Esterday, Dale Clark and John Pennock.

Pallbearers were Mark Harrison, Dave Harrison, J. R. White, Randy Stockbarger, Tony Harrison and Remington Harrison.

Burial was in the Kahoka Cemetery.

Visitation was held at the Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka after noon on Tuesday with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m.

Memorials in lieu of flowers were suggested to the Revere Community Center, Revere Fire Department or the Peaksville Christian Church.
