Clarice Ayres of Twin Oaks Personal Care home in Granville Summit, Pa., formerly of Newton, Pa., left this world very gently on Thursday, Oct. 18. She was the widow of Lester Ayers, they were married for 47 years.
She taught grade school in Newton for several years, became a mother and then went on to be the office manager at East Falls Sand and Gravel Plant in Falls, Pa., for 25 years. She was a lifelong member of the Newton Methodist Church.
She loved doing many handicrafts, such as knitting, crocheting, embroidery and ceramics. Many creations were donated to her church and the Newton Fire Department for fundraisers.
She is survived by her daughter, Cherilyn Ayres of Canton, Pa.; brother, Douglas Biesecker of Apalachin, N.Y.; sister-in-law, Peggy Biesecker of Newton, Pa.; several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members originally from the area.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, James; and sister-in-law, Eleanor Biesecker.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial service at the Countryside Community Church on Orchard Drive in Clarks Summit on Thursday, Oct. 25, at 4 p.m. with Pastor Jim Hollister of Towanda officiating. Interment will be held privately at the Newton Cemetery.
