U.S. Veteran

Victor S. Anchukaitis age 87 years died in the Norwood Hospital in Norwood, Massachusetts on Friday, October 19, 2012. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on December 23, 1924, he was the son of the late Anthony and Martha (Pocius) Anchukaitis. He graduated from South Boston High School and later graduated from the University of Virginia. Mr. Anchukaitis proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He has been a resident of Walpole, Massachusetts since 1955 moving there from South Boston.

He was a Parole Officer for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for 20 years. He worked in Lynn, Saugus and Revere. He was also a guard at the Massachusetts Correctional Insitution in Walpole. After he retired, he was a crossing guard at the Bird Middle School in Walpole for 15 years.

Mr. Anchukaitis was a member of the Walpole VFW and the BPOE in Norwood. He also served as an usher at Blessed Sacrament Church in Walpole and enjoyed cooking.

Beloved husband of the late Stacia A. (Werkowski) Anchukaitis. Loving father of Stephen Anchukaitis of NY, Phil Anchukaitis of Walpole, Linda Eckberg of VA, Anthony Anchukaitis of Wrentham, Thomas Anchukaitis of Walpole, and Mark Anchukaitis of Barrington, RI. Cherished grandfather of 10.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 from 9:30 - 10:30 AM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Blessed Sacrament Church Walpole on Tuesday at 11AM. Interment will be in Saint Francis Cemetery Walpole.
