Martin Eugene “Nick” Bickett, age 86, of Loretto, passed away Thursday, October 18, 2012 at Spring View Hospital in Lebanon. He was born March 29, 1926 in Loretto. He was a retired employee of Owens-Illinois in Bardstown , an independent cattle truck driver, a member of Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and a member of the Loretto Sportsman’s club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin Eugene and Rosella Mattingly Bickett and three brothers, Mike, Pat and Paul Thompson.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Dorothy Ann Cecil Bickett, five sons, Gene Bickett (Beverly) of Campbellsville, Bill Bickett (Karen), Michael Bickett (Rosie) and David Bickett all of Bardstown and Kevin Bickett (Dora) of Loretto, five daughters, Judy Masterson (John) of New Hope, Brenda Peake (Larry), Nell Bickett (Becky Aimesbury), and Linda Thompson (Mike) all of Bardstown, Irene Downs (Curtis) of Loretto, 25 Grandchildren and 29 Great Grandchildren, two sisters, Jane Woodard and Rosella Batcher, both of Louisville.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 AM Monday, October 22, 2012 at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Saint Francis, followed by interment in the church cemetery. Rev. William D. Hammer and Rev. R. Joseph Hemmerle will concelebrate. Rev. Deacon Eddie Hutchins will assist.
Visiting 3-8 PM Sunday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 PM conducted by Rev. Deacon Joseph R. Dant.
