Joan L. Gray of Crawfordsville passed away Sunday. She was 80.
Mrs. Gray was first and foremost a mother and homemaker, but also worked as the office manager for construction and real estate companies. She was a graduate of Carl Schurz High School in Chicago. She was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church. She and her husband delivered Meals on Wheels. She also loved her card playing and lunch group on Thursday.
Born May 23, 1932 in Chicago, she was the daughter of Walter and Ellen Nolan Scott. She married Dudley Gray on September 5, 1953. He survives.
Additional survivors include two daughters, Laurie (Rick) Ryland of Oregon, Illinois and Leslie (Charlie) Warren of Crawfordsville, son, Hugh Scott (Jennifer) Gray of Niles, Michigan, sister, Dolores Cuthbertson of Denver, Colorado, ten grandchildren, Heidi (Brian) Myers, Molly (Jack) Whitecotton, Anna (Brett) Hanthorn, Isaac Ryland, Joy Ryland, Michelle Ryland, Shannon Gray, Melanie Gray, Holden Gray and Grant Gray as well as eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Steve Gray.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM Wednesday at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 1306 E. Main Street, Crawfordsville. Mass will be held at the church Thursday at 10 AM with Father Dennis Faker officiating. Burial will take place at Greenlawn Cemetery in Darlington later.
