Mike Ambrester, 66, of Pine Mountain, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at The Medical Center, Columbus, GA.

Family visitation will be held on Saturday, October 13, at Cox Funeral Home in Hamilton, Georgia from 4:00pm – 6:00pm. A memorial celebration will be held at 3:00pm on Sunday, October 14, at Morningside Baptist Church, 6065 Morningside Drive, Columbus, Georgia. The service will be officiated by Reverends Jimmy Cook and Keith Jennings.

Born in Columbus, Georgia, on January 4, 1946, grew up in Morningside and attended Columbus High School. He was a career corporate pilot, retiring from Coca-Cola Enterprises in 2005. Mike was an avid motorcyclist and served as a Captain and Crew Chief in the Civil Air Patrol. He was a member of the Front Porch Gang Bible study group and a member of Roosevelt Memorial Church in Pine Mountain Valley. He took great joy in his three daughters and their accomplishments, and was a master conductor of friendships. He enjoyed tinkering, hunting, skeet shooting, fishing and loved the smartest dog in the world, Bear.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Marie (Johnson) Ambrester, and his older brother Charles “Buddy” Ambrester. He is survived by his wife, Kim (Francis) Ambrester, his daughters Jennifer Ambrester of Mobile, AL, Chandler Ambrester of Greenville, SC and Katherine Ambrester of Allentown, PA; brothers Col. F. G. “Gil” Stephenson (Phyllis) of Midland, GA and Greg Ambrester (Julie) of Jackson, MS; nieces and nephews Scott, Russ, Jeannie, Dana, Charles, Deanna, Ken, Kelly and Julieann; several great-nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations would be welcome to Harris County Hands of Christ, P. O. Box 753, Hamilton, GA 31811, or Roosevelt Memorial Church, P. O. Box 126, Pine Mountain Valley, GA 31823.
