“Beloved Mother and Grandmother”

Mrs. Edith (Wortman) Brownstein, 88 of Ridgefield, formerly of Waterbury passed away on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at Danbury Hospital. She was the widow of Jack Brownstein.

Edith was born in Hartford, Connecticut on March 13, 1924, daughter of the late Abraham and Lena (Lansing) Wortman. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, a loving and dedicated wife, a partner in her husband’s business affairs, a world traveler, and a participant in many philanthropic endeavors.

Edith leaves two sons: Andrew R. Brownstein, and his wife Elise of New York City, and Lawrence F. Brownstein and his wife Judith of Middlebury, and four grandchildren, Alex, Julia, Amy and Everett.

Arrangements: Services will be held Sunday, October 14, at 10:00 a.m. at the B’nai Israel Synagogue, 444 Main Street North in Southbury, CT. Burial will follow at the Beth El Cemetery, Boyden Street, in Waterbury, CT. Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway has been entrusted with the arrangements.

The family will receive visitors on Sunday, October 14 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the home of Lawrence Brownstein, 331 South Street, Middlebury, CT, and also on Monday, October 15 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the home of Andrew Brownstein, 911 Park Avenue, New York, NY.
