Russell Eugene Kennedy was born June 18, 1973 in Poplar Bluff, Mo. to Russell E. Kennedy Sr. and the late Martha Jane Houston Kennedy. God lifted him from his earthly body and called him home on Friday, April 27, 2012.
Russell was a born again Christian and a member of the Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
He graduated from Poplar Bluff High School in 1991. He attended Three Rivers Community College in Poplar Bluff, Mo. and Momuth College in Momuth, ILL where he was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. Russell served honorably in the U.S. Air Force for 8 years. He was employed as a Coater/Finisher at Lockheed Martin in Atlanta, Ga.
Russell was lovingly known by his family and close friends as "Rusty". He simply loved people. Since joining the U.S. Air Force, Russell acquired a love of travel. One of his favorite places was the Holy Land. During his travel in recent years to the Middle East, Russell had an opportunity to take his time and sincerely read the Holy Bible. He was so excited about sharing his renewed passion about the awesome God we serve. Knowing Russell was knowing the love of God. Russell was known for eating sweets, telling jokes and being the light of any situation. He was genuinely loved and respected by his peers and co-workers. He enjoyed fishing and watching HGTV and dreaming of remodeling one day. Russell was an avid football player in high school where he proudly wore Jersey #76 and was First Team All-Conference and All-State Defensive Lineman. Other achievements include the Derland Moore Award and the Letter Club Outstanding Lineman Award. Russell also played college football. Above all, he was most proud of his children Tiarra and Uvonte whom he loved more than anything in the world.
Russell's mother preceded him in death. His loving memories are cherished by his father, Russell Kennedy Sr. of Poplar Bluff, Mo, his son, Uvonte Kennedy and his daughter Tiarra Kennedy, both of Atlanta, Ga. Two sisters Rosalind Kennedy and Rhonda Kennedy, one brother, Rodney Kennedy, all of Poplar Bluff, Mo. Two nephews, Makarius Bell of Poplar Bluff and Rodney Kennedy Jr. of Chicago, ILL. One niece, Kiyona Kennedy of Poplar Bluff and one uncle raised as a brother, Tommy (Beverly) Delph of Cape Girardeau, Mo., and many uncles, aunts, cousins and beloved church family and friends.
