Robert D. Burgess 80 years, passed away October 2, 2012. He was born July 24, 1932 in Urbana, Illinois. Memorial Service Tuesday, October 9th 11:00 AM at First Nazarene Church, Bradenton FL. Robert served in management for Kroger Company in Illinois, National Sales manager at Cudahy Packing Company, Kansas City, MO and retired in 1989 from Lady Baltimore Foods, Kansas City, Kansas. He was a member of Gideon’s International for over 50 years. He joined the Military at 15 years of age and was a member of the Underage Military Service and served in the Illinois National Guard for 3 years. Robert taught adult Sunday School classes for 35 years, served as volunteer Chaplain at Blake Hospital, Bradenton, FL 6 years, Chaplain at Korean Veterans Association 5 years. He was ordained as an Ordained Minister in the Church of the Nazarene in May 2012. Preceded in death by his mother and father, Virgil and Zoe Burgess, Champaign, ILL, sister Patricia Burgess, missionary to Taiwan, brother Bill Burgess, Fisher, ILL and grandson Christian Burgess Speicher, Kansas City, MO. He is survived by wife Beverly (married 62 years), two daughters; Cindy Speicher and husband Darwin of Clovis, NM, Pamela McKamie and husband Wayne of Leawood, KS, grandchildren; Jacob Speicher, Denver, CO, Kimberly Speicher, Clovis, NM, Gabriel Speicher, Olsburg, KS, Zachary McKamie, Leawood, KS, Dustin McKamie, Kansas City, MO, and Elise Kurtz of Leawood, KS.
