John L. Mudre

John L. Mudre, age 83, of Stratford, beloved husband of Marie Gernat Mudre, passed away on Sunday, September 30, 2012 in Bridgeport Hospital. Mr. Mudre, the proprietor of Hilltop Market in Stratford, was born in Stratford to the late John and Helen (Soltis) Mudre and has been a life long resident. He was a member of the U.S. Army National Guard, and was a founding member of the FAIRCO Duckpin Bowling League. John was an avid golfer, traveler, and sports fan, and especially enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren compete in their various sports. Survivors in addition to his beloved wife include his children, Paula Mudre of New Haven, William Mudre, Jack Mudre and his wife Jacqui, and Ronald Mudre, all of Stratford, 4 cherished grandchildren Max, Kurtis, Rachel, and Lily, his sister Eleanor Demchak, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was pre-deceased by his brother Edward Mudre and sister Mary Semanchik. . Funeral services will take place on Thursday October 4th at 9:15 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford, and at 10 a.m. in the Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church of St. John the Baptist, Bridgeport for a Requiem Funeral Service. Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery Stratford. Friends may greet his family on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. Panachida at 5:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers those desiring may make donations to St. John’s Church or to a charity of choice in John’s memory.
