Henry Andrews, age 70 of Washington, passed away Wednesday September 26, 2012, in Norman. Charles Henry Andrews was born March 27, 1942 in Washington, OK, the 5th of 16 children born to Glen David Andrews and Vernie Gencie (Madden) Andrews. He grew up on the family farm and learned at a very young age, the value of hard work. By age 13, he was working in the grocery store as a stocker. He married the love of his life; a young girl from Lexington named Virginia Idlett. Together, they raised 3 sons, Larry, Chuck and Bruce. They made their first home in Lexington before eventually settling in Washington. In the late 1960’s, Henry started his own construction company, and worked as a general contractor until taking a job as an insurance examiner with the State of Oklahoma Insurance Department. Henry was a family man first and he loved his family greatly. He loved being outdoors and especially enjoyed fishing and playing golf. His true passion was music, and he was a gifted musician and singer who could play many instruments. He was a member of the Goldsby Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by: His parents, Glen & Gencie Andrews; 2 sisters, Nadine Andrews & Bonnie Summers; 3 brothers, Isaac, Martin & David Andrews; Sister-in-law, Glenna Andrews & 2 brothers-in-law, Bill Madden & James Henry.
Henry leaves behind: His wife, Virginia of the home; His sons, Larry Andrews and wife Kim of Mustang, Chuck Andrews and Bruce Andrews, both of Washington; 3 brothers, Kenneth Andrews and wife Nadine of Washington, Wayne Andrews and wife Linda of Washington and Nathan Andrews and wife Stephanie of Norman; 7 sisters, Vernie Madden and husband Jake of Maysville, Norma Jean Madden of Maysville, Bertha Henry of Purcell, Louise Carroll and husband Jim of Wayne, Judy Pope and husband Dale of Seminole, Kathy Hendrix and husband Jerry of Washington and Helen Ham and husband Harold of Goldsby. 7 grandchildren, Casey Andrews and wife Tomee, Mackey Barnett and husband Shawn, Cayden Andrews, Ethan Andrews, Kristan Andrews, Olivia Short and Jaycee Short; 3 great grandchildren, Tye Barnett, Wendee Andrews and Tegan Short; Numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Friday, September 28, 2012, at the Goldsby Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the Washington Cemetery.
