The funeral for Ida Mae Washington Morant, 70, of 875 White Sands Road, Holly Hill, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, 2012, at Greater Target AME Church, 7248 Old State Road, Holly Hill, with the Rev. Dr. Charles L. McLamore officiating. Burial will be in Greater Target-Bethel Cemetery in Holly Hill.
Mrs. Morant died Friday, Aug. 3.
She was born in Holly Hill, daughter of the late Leland Washington Sr. and Ida Kay Collier Washington and was a stepdaughter of the late Madline Mack Washington. She was a 1961 graduate of Roberts High School. Her adult life was spent in Newark, N.J., where she studied and became a certified nursing assistant. She was employed with the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey for 22 years.
Mrs. Morant was predeceased by an infant son, Elvin Morant Jr.; a sister, Barbara Chatman; and four brothers, Billy Washington, Willie Washington, Leland Washington Jr. and Douglas Washington.
Her survivors include her husband, Elvin Morant of St. George; a son, Dale (Harriett) Morant of the home; four grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a sister, the Rev. Betty W. (Rev. Esau) Clark of Holly Hill; two brothers, James Washington and Ricky Washington, both of Holly Hill; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, at Shuler-Marshall Funeral Home of Holly Hill.
