Mrs. Mary Alice Washington, 59, of 216 Hope Lane, Bowman, died Monday, Aug. 27, 2012.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, at Second Providence Baptist Church, 130 Providence Lane, Bowman, with the Rev. Terry Stephens officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mary Alice was born in Bowman, daughter of the late James Williams Sr. and Mrs. Clarieor Johnson Williams. She completed her education at Bethune-Bowman High School in 1971. She became a certified nursing assistant and was employed by Laurel Baye Convalescent Center in Orangeburg, as well as in private residences. She was a member of Second Providence Baptist Church, where she served as Sunday school secretary for a number of years. She was also a member of the Usher Board, Missionary Circle #2, The Young Adult Choir, and the Pulpit Aid.
Her survivors include her husband of 39 years, Thomas “Jackie” Washington of the home; a daughter, Jacqueline Washington of Atlanta; a son, Ryan R. Washington of the home; sisters, Beverly Peppers of Orangeburg, and Theresa (John) Bowman and Debra Williams, both of Bowman; brothers, James Williams Jr. and Edward Williams, both of Bowman, the Rev. Rommie (Cathy) Williams of Manning, Joe Louis Williams of Columbia and Harry (Ruthie) Williams of Pineville; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
