William J.

U.S. Veteran

William J. "Bill" Jackson, 69, of Edgewater, went to be with our Savior on Monday, September 24, 2012 at home surrounded by loved ones. Bill was born in Fayetteville, NC on January 13, 1943 to the late Robert and Ruby Jackson. He grew up in Chesapeake Beach, MD and graduated from Calvert County High School. After serving in the Air Force, Bill moved to Florida where he retired after 15 years as a recreation supervisor with the City of Edgewater. He loved working with kids and was very proud of the work he did. A prankster at heart, Bill loved seeing those around him laughing and smiling. He loved fishing, NASCAR, the Washington Redskins, and especially ice cream!

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Therese . He also leaves his son Robert Jackson of Nashville, TN; stepson Kevin Barrow of Gainesville, FL; son Nick Jackson and grandson Malachi of Winter Park, FL; sister Barbara Parker (Ted) of Millsboro, DE; niece Cheryl George (Eric) of Windsor Mill, MD; niece Kim Kraynak (Eddie) of Morganton, GA; great nieces Brittany and Shayna; great nephew TJ; and one precious girl Taylor Jade Ruth, whom he adored.

He also leaves behind many cherished friends and work colleagues who have been very helpful and supportive through this rough time. Bill was a very special husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to all he met. He left a positive impact on all those that knew him. His legacy will carry on through all the wonderful memories he gave us filled with love, laughter, and dancing.

Services will be held at Settle Wilder's New Smyrna Beach Chapel on Saturday, September 29. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m., service at 11:00 a.m., followed by burial of cremated remains at Sea Pines Memorial Gardens in Edgewater.

His family would like to thank Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia/Flagler for the wonderful care they provided. A special thank you to Paula for her tender loving care.

Donations may be made to Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129 or to the Edgewater Fire Department, P.O. Box 100, Edgewater, FL 32132.
