Angelo Carnevale

Angelo Carnevale, of Lawrenceville, died at his home peacefully on Saturday September 22, 2012, surrounded by over forty family members.

Born December 22, 1920 and raised in Pettoranello, Italy he moved his family to Lawrenceville in 1970 at the age of 50 to start a new life. He was a proud man and a true Patriarch as he worked three jobs in order to support his family.

He served in the Italian Army during World War II and was taken as a POW in Greece in 1943.

Angelo enjoyed working in his bountiful garden, producing an abundant assortment of vegetables, which he shared with his family and neighbors. He made his red wine every October, a ritual which he truly enjoyed. One of his weekend enjoyments was watching the soccer matches on the Italian channel.

He retired in 1987 after a long career on the maintenance force at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton. In addition to his full time job, he worked evenings with the cleaning force at ETS and cut grass on the weekends. A true immigrant, he worked hard and provided for his family, who he loved so dearly, and nothing made him happier than spending time with his entire family, no matter what the occasion.

Son of the late Francesco and Maria Toto Carnevale, he is survived by his wife of 66 years, Bice Ciccone Carnevale, his four daughters; Maria Palumbo, Lucia Carnevale and her husband Franco, Antonietta Antenucci and her husband Michelino, and Nancy Slavin and her husband Edward, his son Sam Carnevale and his companion Janis MacDonald, his grandchildren; Kim and Dan Palumbo, Maria Steinbach and her husband Eric, Vincent Antenucci and his wife Jody, Clara Pascarella and her husband Mike, Angela Galantic and her husband Pete, Lisa Landry and her husband JC, Dan Carnevale and his wife Katie, Michael Antenucci, Rhonda Lazar and her husband Matt, Frank Carnevale, Ed and Sean Slavin, Samantha Mull and her husband Shane, and Jason Carnevale and his wife Amanda, and his great grandchildren; Gabrielle, Samantha, Sabrina, Michael, Philip, Danny, Kylie, Jack, Maddie, Vincent, Benjamin, Natalia, McKenzie, and Ryan.
