Virgil Munn, age 85, of Millfield died Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 19, 2012 at his home.

Born June 12, 1927 in Pleasanthill area of Athens County, he was the son of the late Otis “Ot” Jack & Rebecca Jane Bolin Munn.

He attended Albany High School and retired as a heavy equipment operator at Athens Building Materials. He was also employed at Coats Construction, Dover Township Trustees, Athens County Engineers Office, and the City of Athens Street Department all as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the Golden Wings CB Club and known by the handle “Little Man”.

Virgil is survived by five daughters- Norma (Dave) Russell of Millfield, Linda (Donnie) Skinner of Hallsville, Texas, Twila (Tom) Skinner of Blanchester, Candice (Phil) Matheny of Logan and Danita (Bob) Blain of Orient; two sons- Bill (Ann) Munn of Spring, Texas and Ray (Richard Appleing) Munn of Longview, Texas; a daughter in law, Brenda Munn of Elizabethtowne, N.C.; several grandchildren, several great grandchildren and several great- great grandchildren; and a sister, Eva Lou Steele of The Plains.

Besides his parents he is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Sis Misner Munn; a daughter, Patricia Munn; a son, Bob Munn; three sisters- Maude Welch, Mary Munn and Fanny Vanoy; three brothers- Elson, Leonard and Dwight Munn.

Funeral service will be conducted Sunday 1:00 pm at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens with Pastor Gene Skinner officiating. Burial will be in Clarks Chapel Cemetery. Friends may call Saturday 5-8 pm at the funeral home.
