Warren John Doherty

U.S. Veteran

Warren J. Doherty, 87, Ripon, died Wednesday, September 19, 2012, at Michalene’s Assisted Living. He was born September 24, 1924, in Shirley, WI, son of Harry and Frances (Patton) Doherty. Warren enlisted in the U.S. Army in June of 1943, and served our country throughout World War II until his honorable discharge in March of 1946. He was a dairy farmer and millworker who loved to harrass, joke, and tease people. Mostly, Warren liked having fun. He will be remembered for his love of ice cream, McDonald’s hamburgers, and his Friday fish fries. Warren was a member of St. Margaret Mary Parish, Neenah.

Warren is survived by his four children: Dan (Elaine) Doherty, North Fond du Lac, Don (Judy) Doherty, Fairwater, WI, Pat Kok, Waupun, WI, and Jane (Mike) Decker, Georgia; eight grandchildren: Tracy Doherty, Eric (Susan) Kok, Tess (Mark) Stellmacher, Jessica Decker, Laura (Jeremy) Demaa, Lisa Decker, Ethan Doherty, and Angela “Angel” (Joel) Voigt; eight great grandchildren: 2 step great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Warren was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Bernard Doherty; and two sisters: Marion and Mildred Krueger.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Friday, September 21, 2012, at Allouez Catholic Cemetery Chapel, 2121 Riverside Drive, Green Bay, with Fr. Michael Ingold officiating. Interment will follow. Visitation will be at the cemetery chapel from 10:00 A.M. Friday until the time of the service. Full military honors will immediately follow the services.
