George A. Rosenberg

U.S. Veteran

George A. Rosenberg, age 86 of White Cloud, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday morning, September 15, 2012. George was born on April 5, 1926 in Fremont to Getty Lee and Zella Mae (Mills) Rosenberg. George graduated from White Cloud High School and immediately joined the United States Navy where he served during World War II. After his return to White Cloud following his military time, George graduated from Ferris State College and then met and married Dorothy J. Kolk on June 16, 1950 in Fremont. George has been a lifelong resident of White Cloud where he started delivering newspapers as a young boy, then worked at Bird’s Food Market and later at White Cloud Co-Op during his school days. George later took over ownership and became the 3rd generation Rosenberg to own and operate Rosenberg Hardware in White Cloud in which he stayed active his entire life. George was civic minded and was active in various local organizations in White Cloud through his lifetime. George has been an active member of the White Cloud United Methodist Church.

George is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy of White Cloud; his son, Robert (Chris) Rosenberg of Fremont; his daughter, Linda (Don) Meneghini of Ann Arbor; 11 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Virginia Baker and by his daughter-in-law, Susan Rosenberg.

VISITATION : Monday, September 17, 2012 from 2-4 & 6-8 at Crandell Funeral Home – White Cloud Chapel. FUNERAL SERVICES : Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at 11am at the White Cloud United Methodist Church with military rites under the auspices of the Newaygo V.F.W. Sportsman’s Post #4249. INTERMENT : White Cloud Cemetery. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS : Harbor Hospice or White Cloud United Methodist Church.
