Jeff DeMars, 57, of Waupun, and formerly of Fond du Lac, was born to eternal life on August 28, 2012, where he was greeted by his mother’s open arms.
The Lord blessed us with his life on May 26, 1955, to Kate LaShay Portmann.
Jeff enjoyed studying Indian cultures, beading and crafting, making jewelry, reading, writing, and playing many card games including sheepshead and cribbage. He loved his Harley and listening to music.
He is survived by a son, Russell W. (Heather) Boese and granddaughter, McKayla of Guam; a half brother, John G. Bishop of Ladysmith; two aunts; numerous cousins; and many valued friends he met on his travels that were like his extended family.
He was preceded in death by his mother, aunts, uncles and cousins.
A special thank you to Hospice of Waupun, Attorney Paula Doyle of Madison, and Rev. Jerry Hancock and his church in Madison for the loving care they showed him.
At Jeff’s request, there will be no visitation or service. Cremation has taken place. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Memorials would be appreciated to First Congregation Church of Christ, 1609 University Avenue, Madison, WI 53726.
TO THOSE I LOVE When I am gone, just release me, let me go - - so I can move into my Afterglow. You mustn’t tie me down with your tears; let’s be happy that we had so many years. I gave you my love, you can only guess how much you gave me in happiness. I thank you for the love you each have shown, but now it’s time I traveled on alone. So grieve for me awhile, if grieve you must, then let your grief be comforted with trust. It’s only for a while that we must part, so bless the memories within your heart. And then, when you must come this way alone, I’ll greet you with a smile and say “Welcome Home”.
