Clifford Lee Salter’s Life Story
Paul wrote “I am convinced that neither death nor life.... not anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the Lord of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8: 38
On October 9, 1944, Clifford , the third of fifteen children was born to the late Mr. Lewright and Mable Salter in Jonesboro, Georgia. In 1962, he met the love of his life Emma Pearl. They were married in Holy Matrimony. Unto to them six children were born of which three of them preceded him in death. Clifford and Emma Pearl served as husband and wife for forty-nine years until his death.
Clifford recognized the need and love of God in his life and found a personal relationship with him. He joined New Bethel Baptist Church, where was a faithful member for over 15 years, under the leadership of Reverend R. F. Hairston, III. As his personal relationship with God grew, so did his faith, encouraging words and wisdom to all his family and spiritual friends.
Clifford remained a faithful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and devoted Christian in the gospel, serving as a true leader until the decline of his health. He found great strenght in serving the Lord and quietly answered his call on Sunday, July 29, 2012, at approximately 6:00am. Clifford is now enjoying a great reunion with love ones who preceded him in death to include his parents: Lewright and Mabel Salter; son: Clifford Salter, Jr. (Bill-Bo); brothers: Robert, Frankie, Willie and Edward Salter; sister: Maylee Salter; brothers-in-law: Ernest Johnson, Marvin Jones and sister-in-law: Lucy Jones.
Clifford is survived by his beloved and cherished wife: Emma Pearl; two children: Harry ”Ballie” Salter (Sharon) and Consuelo “Suelo” Salter (Edward Cain); one special aunt: Johnnie Mae Sharpe; brothers: T.J. Salter (Gwendolyn), Prince Salter (Deborah), Albert Salter all of Belle Glade, Florida; sisters: Dorothy Mae Johnson of Rochester, NY, Leola (John) of West Palm Beach, FL; brothers-in-law: Frederick Jones (Lula) of Lake Worth, FL, L.T. Buckner; sisters-in-law: Joyce Turner (James) of Belle Glade, FL, Dorothy (Corinthian) of Cordele, GA, Cassandra Salter and Virginia Jones both of Belle Glade, FL; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
