Edith Blanche Schryver

Edith Schryver, age 88 of New Smyrna Beach, died Thursday, September 6, 2012 at home. Born in Long Island City, New York, Mrs. Schryver came to this area in 1975 from Plainview, Long Island, New York.

A homemaker, Mrs. Schryver was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church where she was active in Church Women United. She was a member and avid golfer at Sugar Mill Country Club and a member of New Smyrna-Edgewater Elks Lodge #1557. A prolific writer of poetry and short stories, Mrs. Schryver once had a column "Grannie's Graces" in the New Smyrna Beach News and Observer. She enjoyed dancing and travel, having made two around the world trips with her loving husband of 67 years, Harold.

Other survivors include a son, Kenneth Albert (Carol) Schryver of Key Largo, Florida; a daughter, Debra (Jeffery Hampton) Feeney of New Smyrna Beach; and three grandchildren, Kerrie Schryver of Ft. Lee, New Jersey, Kimberly (Don) Schryver-Edwards of Dania Beach, Florida, and Michael Feeney of Astoria, Queens, New York.

Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 10 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, New Smyrna Beach, with the Reverend Deke Miller officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. tonight (Sunday) at the Settle-Wilder New Smyrna Beach Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 1650 Live Oak Street, New Smyrna Beach, FL 32168 or COPD Foundation, 2937 SW 27th Ave, Suite 302, Miami, FL, 33133.
