On a warm Sunday afternoon in Wynne, Arkansas September 2, 2012, Mrs. Versie Elaine Handley was visited by her angles in her sleep, and was called home to glory to be with God.
Versie was born to the late Dee and Lucille Phillips on April 11, 1943 in Helena, Arkansas. She was the fourth of five children. At an early age, she was baptized and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.
Versie attended Eliza Miller High School, and on May 14, 1966 she was united in Holy matrimony to Nelson Deboid Handley Sr., to whom recently preceded her in death only two months ago. To this union, they were Blessed with four children. Versie will forever be remembered as a plesant, cheerful, kind, and loving lady. She was a faithful person and had such a giving spirit to family and friends. She will also be remembered as a strong steadfast, and never letting go of her faith in God from health concerns earlier in her life.
Versie leaves to cherish her memories four children: Nelson (Sharlin) Handley Jr., of Helena, Arkansas, Victor Handley, and Allen Handley of Memphis, Tennessee, and Patricia (Scott) Cox of Bowie, Maryland; one loving brother John Phillips of Helena, Arkansas; three grandchildren Kortney and Koie Cox of Bowie, MD and Alexia Handely of Helena, Arkansas several nieces, nephews, cousins, and beloved friends whom will miss her dearly.
Her father, mother, two sister, and one brother preceded her in death. May God welcome our sweet Versie into his heavenly mansions, wrap his loving arms around her, and grant her eternal peace. She will be greatly missed by her family and her friends especially because of her loving phone calls just to say hello or just to say she was thinking abou you.
Revelations 21:4 He will wipe away every tear in their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore for the former thing have passed away.
