Chatham……….Barbara Towler Kendrick, age 72 of 872 Kendrick Road, Chatham died Saturday, September 1, 2012 at Danville Regional Medical Center. Born September 12, 1939 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Moses Sampson Towler and Mary Matherly Towler. She was predeceased by her daughter, Cynthia Kendrick; two sisters, Sally Calloway and Gladys Osborne; and two brothers, Billy Wayne Towler, and Gordon Wyatt Towler. Mrs. Kendrick was a member of Greenbay Christian Church where she had held the office of Youth and Adult Ladies Bible School Teacher, and was Secretary of Greenbay Bible School and the Greenbay Ladies group. She was a teacher for the Pittsylvania County School System from 1982 until June of 2000. She enjoyed reading, cooking, and traveling. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Curtis E. Kendrick of the residence; two sons, Anthony (Butch) Kendrick and his wife, Amy of Chatham, and Kelly Karl Kendrick and his wife, Phyllis of Chatham; two brothers, Curtis Towler and wife, Marie of Hurt, and Archie Towler and wife, Barbara of Monroe; one sister, Ruby Smith of Gretna; a brother-in-law, Atron Calloway of Danville; four grandchildren, Daniel Kendrick, Jonathan Kendrick, Kimberly Kendrick Morris and husband, Travis, and Courtney Kendrick; one great-grandchild, Makayla Morris; 10 nephews and 6 nieces. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Monday, September 3, 2012 at Greenbay Christian Church by Lee Ashley, Minister and Dennis Tucker. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Burial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Sunday, September 2, 2012 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
