Ellen Linona Goorhouse 76, of Benzonia died Friday, August 24, 2012, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. She was born October 30, 1935, in Frankfort, the daughter of Henry and Laura (Gunyon) Bramer.

Ellen worked for Mitchell Corporation, in Benzonia, for 28 years. She started out as a seamstress before moving to the stock department.

Ellen’s family was the most important thing in her life. She was fortunate to have a large family that lived nearby. Ellen loved to spend time with and care for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ellen is survived by: her significant other, Henry Goorhouse of Benzonia; her children, Jerry Goorhouse of Benzonia, Mary (Jim) Couturier of Benzonia, and Dave (Robin) Goorhouse of Benzonia; her grandchildren, Jerry Goorhouse Jr. of Benzonia, Lori Goorhouse of Elkhart, Indiana, Justin Couturier of Benzonia, Autumn Goorhouse of Frankfort, Ryan Couturier of Benzonia, Ashley (Brandon Bonner) Goorhouse of Frankfort, and Jacob Goorhouse of Petoskey; her great-grandchildren, Shawn McKean of Honor, Jared Goorhouse of Benzonia, Harley Redburn of Frankfort, Braden Boughner of Frankfort, and Christopher Goorhouse of Elkhart Indiana, and Kenney Erxleben of Elkhart, Indiana.

Ellen was preceded in death by: her parents; 3 children, Ellen Goorhouse, Billy Goorhouse, and an infant son; and 6 siblings.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, August 29, 2012, at the Bennett-Barz Funeral Home, in Beulah, with the Reverend Daniel E. Furman officiating. Interment will follow in the Joyfield Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM, Tuesday, August 28, 2012, at the Bennett-Barz Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. The Bennett-Barz Funeral Home, in Beulah, is in charge of arrangements.
