Myrtle Blanton Brenda of Crawfordsville passed away Wednesday afternoon at the Lane House. She was 86.
Born February 22, 1926 at Detroit, Michigan, she was the daughter of Henry Clay Blanton and Rosa Belle (Corey) Blanton.
She married Fritz William Brenda on July 26, 1943 at Stanford, Kentucky. He preceded her in death May 3, 1983.
She attended school in Kentucky and had worked for several local companies, but was mainly a housewife and homemaker.
She was a charter member of the Friendship Baptist Church, volunteered as a pink lady at Culver/St. Clare Hospital for twenty years and was a member of the Smartsburg Home Economics Club and the Sunshine Chorus.
Myrtle was an avid quilter, loved music and playing guitar, traveling and loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving family members include daughter Gerry (John) Foster of Waveland, son Bill (Joan) Brenda of Lake Holiday, daughter Marsha (Mike) Keffer of Mace, grandchildren Mark Petrey, Brian Brenda, Shelly Beisecker, Sabra Ellingwood and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Hershel Brenda.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday at the Friendship Baptist Church, 1981 West Oak Hill Road with Reverend Chris Hortin officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery North. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Burkhart Funeral Home.
