Mary Parker Howell age 99 passed away Sunday, August 19, 2012. Services will be held at 11AM Wednesday, August 22, at Sparta Cemetery with Rev. Marvin Mason officiating.

Mrs. Howell was a life-long resident of Sparta and was a 1931 graduate of Sparta High School. She was preceded in death by her parents David L. and Nan Wortham Parker, her husband of 52 years Clyde E. Howell, siblings, Thomas Parker, Mabel P. Jones and Rubye P. Cheeves and a granddaughter Lynn Howell. She was a homemaker and a member of the Pierce Memorial United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her son Thomas E. Howell (Mary Moore) of Augusta, her daughter Julia Howell Flynt (Jimmy) of Conyers, 3 grandchildren Troy Howell of El Paso, TX, Patrick and Brandie Howell Haynie of Augusta, Eddie and Conoly Darden Flynt of Atlanta, 3 great-grandchildren, Jacob Howell of Chicago, IL, Jeb Howell of Atlanta, Ryan Guill of Augusta and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10AM until 11AM at Pierce Memorial United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Pierce Memorial United Methodist Church.
