U.S. Veteran

Arthur G. Navis, 81, Neenah, died Sunday, August 5, 2012, at St. Elizabeth Hospital. He was born March 24, 1931, in Sioux Center, Iowa, son of Johan “Joe” and Minnie (Schuiteman) Navis. Art married Mary Elizabeth Yache, August 10, 1957, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Waupun, WI. He was employed by Fred Rueping Leather Company for 30 years. Art was a very hardworking and unselfish man and he lived for his family; family was his life. He was the #1 fan of his grandchildren and loved to be at their events. He enjoyed playing cards, cribbage, scrabble, camping and scouting. He was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Neenah. He was a U. S. Army veteran having served in Alaska from 1952 to 1953.

Art is survived by his wife Mary Elizabeth; his children: Arthur Joseph (Jane) Navis, Menomonee Falls; Lorrie Beth (Kevin) Pratt and Michael (Diana) Navis, both of Neenah; seven grandchildren: Trevor Navis, Nicholas and Alyssa Pratt, Kelsey, Connor, Kristen and Kendra Navis; other relatives and friends.

Art was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, August 9, 2012, at St. Margaret Mary Church, 620 Division Street, Neenah with Fr. Michael Ingold officiating. Interment will be in the Omro Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. Thursday at the church until the time of the Mass. Military honors will be performed by members of the U.S. Army and the American Legion following services at the church. A memorial has been established.
