U.S. Veteran

age 93, of St. Paul died peacefully after a long battle with cancer on August 1, 2012. Al was the recipient of the Silver Star and the Bronze Star during WWII; retired from the U.S. Army Corp. of Engineers after 29 years; lifetime member of the Twin Cities Musicians Union ; member of the American Legion post 599, Disabled American Veterans and Veterans of Foreign Wars post 8217. He is preceded in death by his wife Lorraine and brother Melvin. He is survived by his very special friend, Betty Stried; his sons Richard (Amy) of Wesley Chapel, FL and Ronald (Linda) of San Mateo, CA; grandchildren Seacret, Erin, and Lisa; great grandchildren Savannah and Grace; brothers Harold and Louis; sister Beverly Sorensen. Also survived by many other loving nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Visitation 4-8 PM Monday at the Roseville Memorial Chapel (2245 N. Hamline Ave, Rosville) 651-631-2727. Mass of Christian Burial 10 AM Tuesday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Roseville. Interment Fort Snelling Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Disabled American Veterans (DAV).
