Funeral service for Ruth P. Copeland, age 87, of Edgewater, who died Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at Compassion In Healthcare Assisted Living, Daytona Beach, will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, August 6, at Bella Vista Baptist Church, Edgewater, with Pastor John Marsh, officiating. Interment will follow at Sea Pines Memorial Gardens, Edgewater. Calling hours will be 3:00-4:00 p.m. Sunday, August 5 at Settle-Wilder's New Smyrna Beach Chapel.

Born in Bertie County, North Carolina, Mrs. Copeland, a restaurant owner, moved from Chattanooga, Tennessee to this area in 1989. She was a member of Bella Vista Baptist Church, loved being in the Bible study and helping with the bulletin committee, enjoyed fishing and reading.

Survivors include her son, Henry Byrum and his wife Linda of North Carolina; brother-in-law, Melvin Copeland of Edgewater; sister-in-law, Ruby Lee of Columbia, South Carolina; and brother-in-law, Jerry Copeland of Amarillo, Texas. Mrs. Copeland was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Copeland.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Mrs. Copeland's name to Bella Vista Building Fund, P.O. Box 681, Edgewater, Florida 32132.
