Rosa C. Buckner, affectionately known as “Ms. Rose,” was born Rosa Clinton Lewis to the late Addison and Eliza Graves Lewis. She departed this life on Thursday, July 26, 2012 at Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center, after a short battle with cancer.
Ms. Rose was born on October 2, 1925 in Spotsylvania County Virginia, where she was a graduate of John J. Wright High School. She retired from the Fredericksburg Department of Social Services after working many years as a Social Worker Aide.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, the late Rev. Douglas Buckner; one son Eric White and one brother Leroy Lewis. She is survived by three sons, Kevin White (Kim), Ricky White (Larkett), and Douglas Buckner Jr.; six daughters, Wanda Taylor (Richard), Tracie White, Danielle Byrd (Ray), Patrice Washington, Michelle Buckner, Karen Wilson, and daughter/granddaughter Kisha Frye (Charlie); and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, family, and friends.
A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, at Arm of the Lord Ministries, 2100 Airport Ave, Fredericksburg, VA. A viewing will be held at A.L. Bennett and Son Funeral Home on Friday, Aug. 3, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., as well as, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the day of the funeral at the church.
