Robert Beckwith age 92 died Tuesday morning, July 24, 2012 at University Medical Center in Lebanon. He was born Oct. 27, 1919, son of the late Frank Baird Beckwith and Ella Crowder Beckwith and was preceded in death by brothers, Sam and Irenus Beckwith and a niece, Judy Cato. Robert was a retired mail carrier with the U.S. Postal Service. He was a charter member of the Watertown Lions Club, a former Alderman and Mayor of the City of Watertown, a member of the American Legion, VFW and Big Brothers. He delivered Meals-On-Wheels to the citizens of Watertown for many years. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he received the Purple Heart for combat injuries. He is survived by his niece, Sandra Kay Word of Watertown; nephews, Glenn (Judy) Beckwith of Brush Creek and Ralph (Fay) Beckwith of Donelson; sister-in-law, Lois Beckwith of Watertown; great nieces and nephews, Cheryl Green, Crystal (Kevin) Woodard, Vicki (Ken) McMahan, Stacey (John) Tucker, Glenn (Heather) Beckwith Jr, Keith (Bettie) Beckwith,Greg (Leah) Beckwith; Gt. Gt. nieces and nephews, Kayla and Jacob Thomas, Jessica and Joshua Gammons, Allison McMahan, Andrew Tucker, Ava and Bella Beckwith, Brandi, Amanda, Cheslea and Ashley Beckwith; Gt. Gt. Gt. nieces and nephews, Makayla and Crayton Key, Taylor Gammons, Khloe and Kinlee Morgan. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in our chapel with Bro. Tim Robinson officiating. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Thursday and prior to services Friday. Interment with military honors at Hearn Hill Cemetery.
