Bobbie Jean Shelton Arwood, 77, of Duffield, VA passed away on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at Holston Valley Hospital. Born on January 26, 1935, Mrs. Arwood was former chaplain and lifetime member of Duffield Fire and Rescue and a volunteer with the American Red Cross. She was in the nursing profession for more than forty years, working at Lonesome Pine Hospital in Big Stone Gap, VA and worked as a volunteer at Wellmont Bristol Hospice House. She attended Flatlick Community Church in Duffield, VA. She was preceded in death by her parents, Patterson Shelton and Bethel Hensley Shelton; husband, Harry Otis Arwood; infant sister; sister, Lois Bass; and grandson, Joseph Arwood. She is survived by two sons, Paul Arwood and wife Marian, Duffield, VA and Sam Arwood and wife Carolyn, Corpus Christi, TX; four grandchildren, Lydia Hensley and husband Brandon, Gate City, VA, Brigett Holmes and husband Steven, Duffield, VA, Caleb Arwood, Kingsport, TN and Jacob Arwood, Duffield, VA; three sisters, Maxine Darnell, Kingsport, TN, Shirley Woods, Surgoinsville, TN and Lou Bean and husband Bob, Surgoinsville, TN; one brother, Perman Shelton and wife Wendy, Church Hill, TN The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 24, 2012 from 5 to 7 PM at Colonial Funeral Home, Weber City, VA. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at 7 PM in the Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Darrell Fletcher officiating.Music will be provided by N ora Lee Bishop, Christine Love and Danny Smith. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at 11 AM in the Fraley Cemetery, Duffield, VA. Family and friends are asked to meet at Colonial Funeral Home by 9:45 AM to go in procession to the cemetery.Pallbearers will be David Woods, Rick Woods, Phillip Smith, Steven Holmes, Jimmy Bishop and Jason Bledsoe. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Duffield Fire and Rescue, 1326 Industrial Park Road, Duffield, VA 24244.
