Carl Lee Williams, 78, of Cool Ridge, passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at his home following a sudden illness.
Born November 30, 1933, in Mount Hope, to the late Clifford Williams and Willa Mae “Bill” Buckland Williams.
Carl was a self-employed master mechanic and body man for many years prior to retirement. He loved his family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them. He had attended Maple Valley Baptist Church. He also served our country in the United States Navy.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Irene Cox Williams; a son Carlos “Butch” Williams; stepparents Opal Williams and Jack Keaton; and son-in-law Jerry Dean Parker.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Shari Parker of Beckley, Sandra L. Williams of Cool Ridge, and Carla Persinger and husband Billy of Grassy Meadows, W.Va.; brothers, Jack Williams and wife Elaine of Beckley, James Williams and wife Kathy of Prosperity, Tommy Welch and wife Ella of New Jersey; sisters, Nancy Kay Garrett and husband Tommy of Oak Hill, and Judy Cutwright of Plum Orchard, W.Va.; grandchildren, Kim Newman, Anna and Brandy Hunt, Corey and Kalie Persinger, Tyler and Nathan Davis; great-grandchildren, Brandon, Seth, Hannah, Caleb, and Emma Newman.
Services to celebrate the life of Carl will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, July 22, 2012, at Rose and Quesenberry Shady Spring Chapel with Pastor Steve Davis officiating. Entombment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Prosperity where the Oak Hill VFW Post 3110 will conduct military graveside rites.
Visitation will be held Saturday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made to the Bowers Hospice House, 454 Cranberry Drive, Beckley, WV.
