James Carl Martin, 60, a retired coal miner with Babcock Mine, passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2012 in Tallahassee.
He was born February 11, 1952, in Beckley, West Virginia, to the late James Wesley Martin and Jewell Christine Walker Miller and was married to Brenda Street Martin who survives.
A resident of Tallahassee for the past 20 years, he came from Beckley, West Virginia. He was also a member of the Leon County Sheriff’s Office Mounted Posse, as well as a sponsor for both the Youth Ranch and the Capital City Challenge.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Shannon and Christina Martin, of Mullens, WV, Shawn and Christina Martin, of Beckley, WV, Christopher and Rebecca Morgan, of Marietta, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Shelly and Rafael Torres, of Beckley, WV, Heather and Clete King, of Tallahassee; grandchildren, Christopher, James, Jarrod, Hannah, Brantley, Madelyn, Madison, Everett, Paige, Danielle, Zach, Savanna, Noah; brothers, William Martin, Larry Martin, Joe Miller, Ronnie Miller; sisters, Libby Moore, Donna Miller, Bonnie Pough; uncles, Buford Davis, Elmond Walker, Denver Walker; aunts, Betty Lou Wiley, Arlene Marlowe, Linda Walker.
The funeral is 11:00 AM Friday, July 20, 2012 at Northwoods Baptist Church with interment following at Tallahassee Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM, Thursday, July 19, 2012 at Northwoods Baptist Church. Donations may be made to Big Bend Hospice.
