Marie Vera (Bohac) Borsenik

Marie Vera (Bohac) Borsenik, age 87, of Owosso, passed away Monday, July 16th, 2012 at Hospice House of Shiawassee County. Honoring Marie's wishes cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or services scheduled. Marie was born February 27, 1925 in Owosso, the daughter of Antoney and Mary (Svarc) Bohac. She married Peter Paul Borsenik on November 8, 1947 at St. Paul Catholic Church. Peter preceded her in death on October 12, 2000. Marie earned her BA degree and was a teacher for 30 plus years at various schools around the county, retiring from Owosso Public Schools in 1979. She was a long time member of St. Paul Catholic Church; a member of the ZCBJ since 1930; and a member and Past President of Owosso VFW Post #9455 Auxiliary. Marie loved to sew and make clothes, she loved crocheting and knitting. When her children were young she spent time taking them to different Czech polka dancing events around the country. She spent many summers with her family at their cabin in Tawas. After her retirement, Marie took on ceramics and loved to make all types of things, from figurines to vases and pitchers, to put in the cabin and to give to people. She and Peter enjoyed taking trips in their motorhome to Florida and many other places. After Peter passed away, Marie enjoyed spending time with her great grandchildren, reading and walking at Hopkins Lake.

Those who cherish her memory include: daughter, Jeannie (Borsenik) McKowen; sons, Charles (Cathy) Borsenik and Timothy Borsenik; grandchildren, Christin and Craig Borsenik, Richard McKowen, Autumn (Mark) Holwager; three great grandchildren; brother, Robert (Rosie) Bohac.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Peter; brothers, George (Lillian) Bohac and Charlie (Lottie) Bohac.

The family suggests memorials be given to Hospice House of Shiawassee County, 2005 Copas Road, Owosso, Michigan 48867.
