Owosso, Michigan Marwood A. (Barney) Brush

Marwood A. (Barney) Brush, age 97, of Owosso, passed away Saturday, June 30th, 2012 at Shiawassee County Medical Care Facility. Funeral services will be at 11 AM Saturday, July 7th at Mowen Funeral Home - William A. Scarlett Memorial Chapel with Rev. Calvin Long, Owosso First United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the Shiawassee County Veterans Honors Squad. Family and friends are invited to a memorial lunch at the church following the cemetery services. Visitation will be on Friday from 4 PM to 8 PM at Mowen Funeral Home.

Marwood was born in Windsor, Ontario, Canada on February 22, 1915, the son of Ledson L. and Jessie E. (Wright) Brush. He married Helen J. Duff on December 1, 1938 in Windsor; she preceded him in death on April 19, 2004. Barney worked for Continental Screen Company, a sales office for the Owosso Mfg. Company in Detroit in 1935 and became a U.S. Citizen at that time as well. He moved to Owosso in 1937 and continued working for Owosso Mfg (which later became Mitchell-Bentley) for 25 years. He then joined Toledo Commutator for another 23 years, before finally retiring. Barney was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II with the 488th Quartermaster Depot Supply Co in Austria in 1945 and 1946. He was a member of the Masons, the VFW and the American Legion in Owosso.

Those who cherish his memory include his children, Edward (Pat) Brush of Owosso, Susan (Don) Janego of Brandon, Florida and Judy (Jeff) Brown of Lachine; four grandchidren, Tim, Traci, Tory and Todd; 6 greatgrandchildren; special friends, Dave Chambers, Nancy Fagan, Rebekah and Greg Morden, Jim and Donna Nault, that helped the family during these difficult times.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Respite Volunteers of Shiawassee, 710 W. King Street, Owosso or a charity of the donor's choice.
