A graveside service for Arlynn Benton Baker, 89 of Enid, will be Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Steve Lance officiating. Arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.
Arlynn was born on May 20, 1923 in Isabella, Oklahoma to Benjamin F. and Beulah (Zimmerman) Baker and died on June 30, 2012 in Enid.
He attended Ringwood High School and at the age of 17, entered the Civilian Conservation Corps. Arlynn was discharged in 1941. On September 29, 1942, he married Ruby Ione Schoonover in Enid, Oklahoma, where they made their home. Arlynn enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1943 and served until his discharge in 1945. He went to work at Champlin Refinery until his retirement in 1983. Arlynn was a hardworker, enjoyed his automobiles and loved horses. He was very passionate about his showing his ponies.
Arlynn was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Sharon Truman; grandson, Austin McKaig; two sisters, Loreta Peckham and Benalea Schwedland; brother, Everett Baker.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby of the home; son, Gary Baker of Fairview; daughter, Janis McKaig and husband, Tony, of Norman; four grandchildren, Cindy Wilcoxen, Barry Baker, Lisa Truman, and Tyler McKaig; three great grandchildren, Jake and Ryan Wilcoxen, and Emma Truman; son-in-law Bill Truman of Enid; other relatives and friends.
Memorials may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation – Heart Division.
