CHICOPEE – Albina B. Gliwski, 88, a lifelong resident of Chicopee, passed away on Friday, June 22, 2012 in Baystate Medical Center. Born in Holyoke on April 26, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Andrew J. and Sophie (Mikuszewski) Gliwski. Albina came to Chicopee at the age of three months and was educated in Chicopee Schools, graduating from Chicopee High School in 1942. She was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Basilica and at one time was a member of the Women’s choir. For 36 years, Albina was employed as an assembler at the former F. W. Sickles plant in Chicopee and then for Springfield Wire, Inc., retiring in 1995. She is survived by her two nephews, James G. Bower II, and his wife Barbara of Midlothian, VA and Andrew J. Bower of Chicopee, a niece, Barbara Spinks of Chicopee, 2 great nephews, James G. Bower III and his wife Tamara and their children, Hunter and Taylor and Sean A. Bower and his wife Erin and their children, Hannah and Ryan. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 beginning at the Corridan Funeral Home, 333 Springfield St., Chicopee at 9 a.m. with the Mass of Christian Burial being celebrated in St. Stanislaus Basilica at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m.
